Top 10 tips on how to get the best deals on flight tickets.
 1. Always be on the lookout.
If you want to avoid the travel agency cost you have to do things on your own. This means spending some time searching for the best flight deal there is. This might take a while but it will be all worth it in the end.
Checking search engines and airline sites frequently should become a daily routine. Many of them have regular offers for domestic and international flights. Those are great for frequent flyers that are looking to save up, just like YOU!
2. Subscribe to price alert.
Once you have the dates and place figured out, a good idea is to let search engines help you with the search. A common practice is to subscribe for price alerts and receive an email every time a desired flight has increased or decreased in price.
The notifications are not a waste of time believe me. Yes, some might not be helpful or you might not like the current price they show but they are totally worth it, just donât despair. These notifications helped me once find a ticket from Berlin to Brussels for only 10 euros. How awesome is that? It is cheaper than a bus faređ˛.
3. Be flexible with dates
If you have the ability to be flexible with the dates then you have more chances of finding better offers. You will be surprised at what difference can a day or two make. There have been cases where a flight a day later was 45 euros cheaper. If you are on the lookout for the best deals like me then you get how this was a total steal đ.
Nowadays, most search engines have the option to chose flexible dates. Just check the box and let the algorithm of the search engine do its job.
4. Delete your browser caches and cookies.
So this might get a bit technical. According to support.google.com
What not many people are aware of is that those cookies and cache are storing data such as the dates you looking for the flight. There is a conspiracy theory out there that some sites have algorithms that use the saved data against the consumers not showing them the best deals.
Whether this is true or not I like to be on the safe side and clear my caches and cookies constantly.
5. Use private window
This will help with comparing prices to avoid tracking. Some sites have algorithms that track your search and preferences. Implementing this trick will prevent getting tricked and so, you will be able to get the best offer. What you need to do is go incognito in google and then voila, no tracking is done!
6. Use different travel search engines
Try switching between one to another to compare prices. There are plenty of different prices for the same flight on different sites. I use the following:
My favorite ones so far have been Skyscanner and Google flights. I just love the options they come up with. You should definitely see what works for you.
7. Check the website of the airline itself.
There is a possibility that the site of the airline company might have a way better offer such as promotional discounts and etc. In some cases, we have come across flights that were cheaper on the site of the airline. Even though this does not happen frequently you can still get an idea of the flight price.
8. Check skiplagged.com
I love the way they trick the airlines. The idea is to find you the destination with the best deal by hopping on flights where your destination is a stop. It will give you direct flights too but it does not limit you to those if there is a better price.
Letâs say you are traveling from New York to LA, direct flight 360 dollars. The site will give you a flight to Reno which has a stop in LA and it costs 250 dollars. So, all you do is hop off at the stop and save 110 dollars. Magic!!!
Check their terms and tips too if you decide to go with them.
9. Use the hopper app
It is designed in a way to trick airlines by predicting if prices will go up and down. On their site, they mention a 95% accuracy up to 1 year in advance. The app itself is free but once you book a flight a small commission of $5 goes to the company. This commission is included in the flight price.
Note: The app works best for the US
10. Change your IP address
This can be done by using a VPN since airplane companies display different offers for different countries. You will be surprised how much difference there is between different currencies. Here is the one we use all the time.
